Church of St. Michael, Kraynikovo

The Church of St. Michael is located in Transcarpathia. It is a unique monument of Transcarpathian Gothic style. Temples of this style are characterized by sharp spiers. It is one of the oldest Gothic churches in Khust district and was built in 1668.

The front door of the church is decorated with beautiful carvings. The iconostasis, which is painted on canvas, has been preserved to this day . Also in the interior are used unique paintings made by painting on canvas with the subsequent gluing them on the log.

The church is one of four churches located in the so-called Golden Church Quadrangle. There are still centuries-old oaks around the church, so the church is better seen from afar in winter. In summer, when the crowns of the trees surround the church, it seems that it has stepped off the canvas of an artist's painting.

Now the church belongs to the architectural monuments of Ukraine, it is active and devoted to the Greek Catholic community, which holds services there. Come to see this ancient church and feel the spirit of the time.
