Winnica Dąbrówka near Tarnów: wines named after Polish royals
Winnica Dąbrówka lies in the village of Dąbrówka Szczepanowska, Pleśna municipality, 12 km from Tarnów, where the Sandomierz Basin meets the Western Carpathian foothills. Six hectares of vines spread across a south-facing slope that catches plenty of sun and is sheltered from the wind by woodland. The hills offer a panorama of the Tatras and the Dunajec valley, so a walk among the rows or a sunset over the vineyard is reason enough to come at any time of year.
The owners are Katarzyna and Robert Beściak. Their wine adventure began in 2010, and the vineyard remains a family business in which every key decision is theirs. Many training courses, meetings with experts, work in winemakers' associations, trips to foreign wineries and their first awards allowed them to enlarge the vineyard step by step and deepen their knowledge of oenology. The vineyard also helps promote the region: in October 2026 it represented Lesser Poland and the Tarnów area at the tourism fairs in Poznań.
Why go
- A wine tasting with the owners talking about traditional methods and modern winemaking technology, in a cosy room or on the terraces above the vines.
- A walk through the vineyard with views of the Tatras and the Dunajec valley.
- Buy wine on site or in the shop in neighbouring Zgłobice, open every day except Sunday.
What to taste and buy
Dąbrówka's hallmark is wines named after Polish kings and queens, turning a tasting into a small journey through history. Among them:
- Anna, a semi-sweet white from Solaris with peach and floral notes;
- Barbara, a semi-sweet white from Muscaris;
- Bona, a dry white from Pinot Blanc with apple and lemon;
- Jadwiga, a dry white from Muscat Ottonel with mirabelle and honey;
- Dobrawa and Elżbieta, light semi-dry white blends;
- Bolesław, a dry red from Rondo, Regent and Monarch with a touch of oak, and Jan, a red from Cabernet Cantor, Regent and Monarch.
There are also dry and semi-sweet rosés and a sparkling pet-nat.
Planning a visit
The vineyard itself welcomes guests only at weekends, from early afternoon into the evening, the best time to sit on the terrace, stroll between the rows and wait for the sunset over the Dunajec valley. If you are passing through the Tarnów area on a weekday, buy wine at the shop in Zgłobice, open in the evenings after working hours. Drivers can take bottles away and taste them at their holiday base.
