Termy Gorce thermal baths

Poręba Wielka 875, 34-735 Niedźwiedź, Poland

Termy Gorce is a small, cosy thermal complex in the village of Poręba Wielka, in the municipality of Niedźwiedź, at the foot of the Gorce Mountains. It is not a noisy water park with slides but a place for quiet relaxation in warm water: there are no thrill rides, but there is a healing brine, open-air hot tubs and saunas. The complex lies next to Gorce National Park, so it is easy to combine with a walk or a hike.

The main asset of Termy Gorce is the thermal brine from the Poręba Wielka IG-1 borehole, 2,002 m deep. According to the operator, the water is rich in iodine, bromine, calcium and magnesium and contains a wide range of trace elements. It fills the pool and the hot tubs, as well as the graduation tower in the salt grotto. The pool water is kept at a body-friendly 37 °C, so you can stay in it for a long time even in winter.

What to see and do

  • Thermal pool with brine (37 °C), 100–110 cm deep — suitable for all ages; it has hydromassage, a geyser, water jets and underwater benches.
  • Eight hot tubs — indoors and outdoors. In the outdoor ones you may have a drink bought at the complex bar.
  • Salt grotto with a graduation tower, salt underfoot, coloured lighting and calm music — for breathing sea-like air in the middle of the mountains.
  • Two saunas — Finnish and infrared, followed by a cold shower or ice.
  • Renewal zone (Strefa Odnowy): more than 70 treatments — massages, spa rituals, brine hydrotherapy and treatments for children. It is best to book in advance by phone or at reception.

One ticket to the Relax Zone covers the pool, hot tubs, salt grotto and saunas. There is also a bar and a restaurant on site.

Good to know. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult; toddlers under 3 need swim nappies. Swimwear and flip-flops are compulsory. The complex has no hotel of its own, so you will stay in nearby guesthouses. Because of the hot water and saunas, people with heart conditions, high blood pressure or other chronic illnesses should consult a doctor first.

Nearby

A 5-minute walk from the baths, in the former manor park of the Wodzicki counts, there is a nature exhibition of Gorce National Park, with a graduation tower using the same brine. Less than 10 minutes by car is Orkanówka, the house-museum of the writer Władysław Orkan. Trails from the village lead up to Turbacz, the highest peak of the Gorce. Families will enjoy the railway rolling-stock museum in Chabówka, and further south, in Podhale, there are other thermal complexes such as Termy Szaflary.
