Sand Lakes Park
A small park in Lviv. It is located between Konovaltsia, Rudnytskoho, Chuprynky and Hordynskoho streets in the Novyi Svit neighborhood. The total area is 5.8 hectares, the area of the water mirror is 1.8 hectares. It is a place of recreation for residents of the neighborhood with a population of 15 thousand people. The park was built in the 1950s on the site of former sand quarries. The lakes appeared due to water seepage from the bottom of the sand pit. In the middle of the 20th century, there was a garbage dump on the site of the lakes. The first name of the lakes was Altai Lakes, and in the early 1990s they were renamed Piskovi.
There are also paths leading to the entrances to the park from Konovaltsia and Chuprynky streets. The paths are asphalted, and the trails are covered with chain-link. The entrance to the park is not decorated with arches. The park's flora includes common and American ash, as well as sharp-leaved maple and sycamore. Tree species include common bird cherry, ash maple, silver maple, white acacia, horse chestnut, cherry plum, cedars, pines, willows, thuja, spruce, birch, poplar and larch, and in general, a rich flora. There are also shrubs: black elderberry, privet, dog rose and others. There is a sports and children's playground in the park. The lakes are mentioned in the song "Old Tram" by Pikkardiyska.
