Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God, Yablunitsa

The village of Yablunytsia is rich in beautiful natural areas and is known to many skiing enthusiasts for its many slopes suitable for skiing. The humid climate and long winter snow season attract vacationers here. The climate and geographical location have contributed to the development of the tourism business.

TheChurch of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a local landmark and is the least popular among the wooden churches in Yaremche City Council. The first church in Yablunytsia was mentioned in the XVIII century. The one that survives today was built in 1895. According to other information, it was built in 1868. It is a wooden religious building located among the hills in the shade of tall deciduous trees.

A wooden plaque hanging on the wall of the church clearly states that the church is "The Assumption of the Mother of God," although for some reason it is called "The Holy Prophet Elijah." It was restored after severe damage during the First World War. It is used by the UGCC community.

It is located to the east of the main road, near the village center, on the terrace of a slope. Traditionally for the mountainous part of the village, the church has a single dome, a narthex attached to the Babynets, and small sacristies on both sides of the large altar.

The covering of the sacristies is combined with a wide roof that encircles the shrine. The walls under the chancel are still made of open logs, and the walls above the chancel were horizontally shingled after the last repair.

The roofs of the building are covered with new tin. A small dome with a lantern crowns the small top, which is placed on a light octagon in the middle of the nave. Higher up the slope, near the cemetery, there is a wooden two-tiered (the first is square in plan, the second is octagonal) bell tower, covered with a large dome with a lantern and a dome on top.

The church has been granted the status of an architectural monument of local importance.
