Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah of the UGCC, Truskavets

On August 4, 2019, the Church of St. Elijah was consecrated in Truskavets. The rite of consecration was performed by Bishop Yaroslav, Bishop of Sambir-Drohobych. The bishop then celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church in concelebration with Father Petro Ivasivka, Dean of Truskavets, Father Yaroslav Shafran, church administrator, priests of the Truskavets Deanery and other deaneries of the diocese.

During the sermon, Bishop Yaroslav noted that the event of the consecration of the church is a testament to the deep faith of many people, a manifestation of the sincere love for God of those who constantly care about the beauty and majesty of the Lord's shrine.

The construction of a man-made church serves to build up non-man-made churches. "These spiritual temples of human souls need to be renewed today, because in the last century they were destroyed for decades by the communist regime, and in the twenty-first century they are in no less danger from an invisible enemy who insidiously tries to kill everything holy in the human soul, blurring the line between good and evil, promoting permissiveness, consumerism and hedonism," said the preacher. Bishop Yaroslav expressed hope that the voice of St. Elijah, the heavenly patron of this shrine, will continue to sound in the newly consecrated church, "zealously reminding us of faith in the One God, calling us to fulfill His commandments and turning us away from worshiping the idols of this world - debauchery, immorality, alcoholism, lies, injustice."
