National Nature Park "Vyzhnytskyi" Beregomet

The Vyzhnytskyi National Nature Park was established on August 30, 1995(Park Office: Chernivtsi region, Vyzhnytsia district, Beregomet village, 27a Tsentralna street. Opening hours: 9:00-18:00, Sat and Sun - days off). The basis for its creation were the existing Luzhky and Stebnyk landscape reserves, as well as the Staechnyi and Yavoriv protected tracts. The total area is 11238 hectares. The most important tasks of the national park are ecosystem protection, scientific and recreational activities, environmental education and environmental awareness.

The park is located in the Outer Carpathians region, on the Beregomet lowlands and foothills. This location explains the moderately warm climate and high humidity on the territory of Vyzhnytskyi. The highest air temperatures are in July (+30 - +35 ºС), the lowest - in January (-20 - -25 ºС). The highest rainfall is observed in June-August (700-1000 mm). Thunderstorms are typical for the region (possible throughout the year), which occur even in winter during the passage of active cyclonic fronts.

The Vyzhnytskyi National Park is located in the basins of the Cheremosh (right tributary of the Prut River) and Siret (left tributary of the Danube River). The park also has mineral springs, such as the Luzhky spring, which contains iron, magnesium, and aluminum ions. Other springs: "Stizhok" (Krynychka), "Stebnyk", "Zubrynets" (Berehomet forestry) and "Diana" (near the village of Vyzhenka).

The national park is dominated by beech-fir and fir-beech forests, which differs from other forest zones of the Carpathians and is explained by the climatic conditions of the region (beech and fir are thermophilic). There are areas of post-forest meadows, gray alder forests on river terraces, and rock outcrops.

The park's flora is represented by 50 rare and endangered plant species, 40 of which are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. For example, the group of Cuckoo orchids, whose representative, the leafless cuckoo, is one of the rarest orchids in the Ukrainian flora. Among the relict species are ferns from the genus Polygonaceae: out of all the Ukrainian Carpathians, only here all three species of this genus (spiky, spear-shaped, and Brown's) grow. The rhizomes also include common ivy, which grows in the Stebnyk tract.

The fauna of Vyzhnytsia includes 3 thousand species, including: vertebrates - 217 species, birds - 137, mammals - 41, bony fish - 20, amphibians - 11, reptiles - 7, and 1 species of lamprey. The Red Data Book of Ukraine includes 62 species of fauna. Among terrestrial vertebrates, there are white stork, lesser spotted stork, blue pigeon, wolf, walnut dormouse, forest dormouse, forest cat, animals of Mediterranean origin include spotted salamander, common quagga, esculapus, and less typical mountain species include mountain kumka, mountain shrew, mountain plover, common olyapka, and others.

Due to its favorable natural conditions, Vyzhnytskyi Park has great potential for tourism development. To this end, 6 eco-tourist routes and 1 ecological trail have been developed to introduce local natural and architectural attractions. The park's environmental education center is responsible for environmental education and awareness, which, among other things, organizes various expositions.
