Kadubivska Stenka Landscape Reserve

The Kadubivska Stinka Landscape Reserve is a unique nature park in the Chernivtsi region. It is located between the villages of Kadubivtsi and Verenchanka in Zastavna district. It is a corner of wild nature, the main attraction of the district and a favorite place for tourists.

The area of the reserve is 22.8 hectares. The reserve protects the left steep rocky side of the relict valley of Kadubivskyi Stream, composed of gypsum and covered with extra-zonal steppe communities typical for Western Podillia. There are 15 species of plants listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, including the rare ones such as Dniester minuartia, multicolored bluegrass, thyme and Podillia onions, and big and blackening dormouse. On the northern border of the range, there are relict phytocoenoses of low sedge and hairy feather grass, also listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. Caves, sinkholes, and watering holes are widespread; the Kadubivskyi Stream is being completely absorbed.

The Kadubivska Stanka Landscape Reserve is a unique natural park, with the river as its main pearl. It is formed from several water streams that flow through the valley and form a single river. After a few meters, the river disappears underground through a kind of "funnel". This creates a unique phenomenon: the valley in a certain area seems to be interrupted and remains dry. After a few hundred meters, the river comes to the surface again in the relict zone.

The main decoration of the landscape reserve is a large number of endemic plants that grow on the two banks of the valley.

The Kadubovska Stinka landscape reserve is located in the Zastavna district of Chernivtsi region. Not far away is the village of Kadubivtsi, a small settlement 30 km north of Chernivtsi. A tourist can get here both by private and public transport. There are bus routes to the village from Zastavne, as well as from neighboring district and regional centers.
