Cathedral of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Khust

"A church will be built here to commemorate the missionary work of the Slavic Apostles St. Cyril and Methodius and the 1100th anniversary of Holy Orthodoxy in Transcarpathia." 24(11).5.1991. This inscription on marble is preserved in this cathedral, whose history is closely linked to the history of the Church of our people.

In 1988, the country celebrated the 1000th anniversary of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus under Prince Volodymyr the Great, while Transcarpathia celebrated its anniversary (in 1989) 100 years later. The apostles of Subcarpathian Rus, Cyril and Methodius, created the Slavic alphabet and opened the Book of Life, the Gospel, for all ages.

The project was developed by architects S.Y. Hanzel and P.M. Hayovych, designers T.V. Tsapulych and A.S. Mykytyn.

During the twenty years of construction of the main church of the diocese, the parishioners organized a strong Orthodox community.

In 1994, the future cathedral was granted the status of a cathedral. Today, this shrine is undoubtedly the city's jewel. Keeping parts of the relics of all the Kyiv Cave Saints, the Cathedral of Cyril and Methodius continues the mission of the holy brothers: to bring people to God.

On May 24, all Slavic peoples celebrate the Day of Writing and Culture, the Day of Remembrance of Cyril and Methodius, and for the cathedral it is a church holiday.

The Cathedral of Saints Cyril and Methodius has a church choir, whose singing can be enjoyed during services. You can visit the cathedral any day, as well as on weekends and religious holidays.
