Castle Hill (City)
An interesting, but very neglected place, the monuments are not well maintained and overgrown with grass, and the garbage is not removed. The mountain (in the center of Kosovo) is 450 meters above sea level. The top offers a panoramic view of the city.
The mountain is home to unique black alpine pines, as well as deciduous and coniferous plantations, and white acacia thickets. The peculiarity of this mountain is the Neogene sandstones. It is probably the lowest mountain in the Carpathians, so everyone can conquer it. The best time to visit is on a winter night. The Carpathians are covered with snow, and the settlements are illuminated with lights. The first thing tourists notice is the monument to the patriot of Ukraine Mykhailo Horbovyi, who lived under the mountain. The monument itself was unveiled in 2013. Then we walk along a dirt road, if you are lucky when it is dry, and if it rained, you can drown in the mud.
The higher you go, the sadder it gets - ruins and mountains of garbage. Half-destroyed buildings that have been an eyesore for 10 years. Due to the floods in 2008-2010, the buildings were badly damaged. The locals did not show their best, turning the mountain into a garbage dump. Kosiv residents and tourists are not better either, drinking alcohol and throwing garbage. From the ruins we drive to the so-called park on the top of the mountain. In fact, it is a neglected forest.
If you want to change Ukraine, start with yourself
