One of the Potocki palaces is located in Ivano-Frankivsk, and the area outside its walls is known to locals as the "Valy". In the old days, the city fortifications at the Stanislav Fortress were located here.

During the construction of the owner's castle, earth was filled in the form of huge ramparts. This was done in order to raise the structure above other buildings in the city. Two bastions stood on the 30-meter-wide ramparts, and they were surrounded by tall oak walls. The location of the fortified bastions allowed the castle's defenders to fire at the enemy along the entire perimeter of the walls. In the middle of the 18th century, the old walls were demolished, and new ones, 10 meters high, were built of stone. The built fortress successfully resisted the raids of the Turkish army.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the walls were removed, and after a while, in 1876, the Hetman's Battlements park was located on the vacated territory.

Nowadays the park is a cozy resting place of small size. In the park is a monument "Ascension", in its center is a sculpture of the Savior. The monument is raised on a low pedestal, on both sides of which there are steps. In front of the monument is a flower garden.

The multi-level alleys of the park are a pleasure to stroll through.
