Les Martovych Literary and Memorial Museum
The Les Martovych Literary and Memorial Museum was founded on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the writer's birth (February 12, 1971). Les Martovych's vivid, multifaceted satire is a valuable material for characterizing politics, culture, and the general atmosphere in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
The immortal works of the satirist have forever entered the golden fund of our culture. The writer lived and worked by the motto: "Not for glory, but for people". The exhibition presents a model of the house in which the writer was born, as well as the peasant clothes of his parents. Numerous photographs, personal belongings of the writer's relatives, and memoirs of fellow villagers tell about L. Martovych's childhood. L. Martovych's matriculation certificate, issued by the University of Vienna in 1902, is on display, which shows that the writer also studied there.
