House of the Ukrainian Society "Sokil", Ivano-Frankivsk

Hrushevskoho Street in Ivano-Frankivsk is home to many important administrative buildings: a bank building, an insurance company building, the district financial directorate, the building of the city executive committee, regional and city councils, which locals call the White House for convenience. On the same street is the building of the Ukrainian Sokil Society.

"Sokil was an organization whose main goal was to provide good physical education for young people and revive the national spirit. Similar societies were organized by Czechs and Poles. Such societies operated on the territory of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

The house of the Ukrainian Sokil society in Ivano-Frankivsk was visited at various times by Lev Bachynsky, Ostap Vyshnia, Volodymyr Sosiura, Yuriy Yanovsky, and Solomiya Krushelnytska.

The building of the Ukrainian Sokil Society is located in the central part of the city at 18 Hrushevskoho Street.
