About

The Hala Kondratowa Hut is the smallest mountain hut in the Polish Tatras. It stands on Kondratowa Polana in the Western Tatras, at the foot of the Giewont massif, at 1,333 m, and is named after Władysław Krygowski, an authority on the Polish Carpathians.

The wooden building was put up by the Polish Tatra Society in 1947–1948. In April 1953 a rockfall from Długi Giewont struck it, a 30-tonne boulder smashing into a corner of the dining room. For more than seventy years the hut was run by the family of Olympic skier Stanisław Skupień. In September 2023 it closed for a complete rebuild: the old log structure was replaced by a masonry one clad in the salvaged logs, and coal heating gave way to heat pumps. It reopened on 14 June 2025.

The blue trail from Kuźnice passes the hut and continues to Kondracka Przełęcz and Giewont; the green trail climbs to Przełęcz pod Kopą Kondracką. Mountain rescue: 985 or +48 601 100 300.
