Seeing a brown bear, a wolf or a deer up close is a favourite adventure for children. The Carpathians have national-park rehabilitation centres, eco parks, ostrich farms and farms with alpacas and llamas.

We list places open to visitors, with prices, opening hours and practical tips for a family trip.

Tip: do not feed the animals unless the staff allow it, stay on marked paths and check opening hours — in winter some enclosures close earlier.
