Fountain "Renaissance Egg", Ivano-Frankivsk

One of the most famous places in the city is the Egg Fountain in Ivano-Frankivsk. The attraction is located in front of the city hall and is made in the form of a broken egg, which was granted monument status in 2004. During its existence, it managed to acquire a lot of legends, most of which are sarcastic jokes of the people.

The fountain has gone through a lot before it reached its current appearance. At the turn of the millennium, the city received a cracked aquifer in the form of a fountain, which immediately began to grow with legends and jokes. Thus, it was popularly called the "Shkutyak's Egg" in honor of the mayor, during whose tenure the monument was built.

For some time, its appearance was associated with the Zahvyzdianska poultry farm. Later, there was a hint of the deputy mayor's involvement in it: "Onyskin's egg made the city's face."

After 2004, some locals told gullible tourists a version of the famous "assassination attempt" on Vice President Yanukovych, as if the Egg had been installed after those events.

The Egg itself is slightly cracked in the fountain, so that you can see a small chicken's foot poking out of it. The monument symbolizes the birth of something new and beautiful.

The Egg Fountain is located at 8 Sheptytskoho Square, next to the local history museum and the city hall. It can be reached by public transport.
