The name of the village Brusnytsia (formerly Barbivtsi) comes from the Latin word barbus, meaning a mustachioed fish. The villagers contradict this and say that the name was formed from the surname Barbir. The village is located near the Brusnytsia river, next to the Chernivtsi-Vashkivtsi road and the local Chernivtsi-Vyzhnytsia railway. The distance to the regional center is 39 km. Brusnytsia is a village located in the Kitsman district, Chernivtsi region. The administrative center is the Brusnytsia village council, which is subordinated to the villages of Dibrova, Zeleniv, Kalnivtsi, Ostra, Chortorya. The population is 2088 people. Ivan Mykolaychuk went to school here from neighboring Chortoryia. Today the school is named after the prominent figure of the Ukrainian film industry. And tourists can visit the Ivan Mykolaychuk Memorial Museum and Estate. Such prominent cultural figures as Yevhen Savchuk, People's Artist of Ukraine, professor at the Kyiv Conservatory, head of the choral singing department, winner of the Taras Shevchenko State Prize, and Sidir Terletskyi, actor, director, and theater worker at the Olga Kobylianska Theater, were born here. Candidate of Chemical Sciences Yevhen Prodan was born here, and Honored Agronomist of Ukraine Olesia Peniuk lives here.

The first written mention of Barbivtsi as a village dates back to 1558. The village has clay deposits (a quarry for a brick and tile factory) and mineral waters. Brusnitsy attracts people primarily because of its nature and the Brusnitska healing water. The proximity of the Bukovinian Carpathians, clean air, and mineral water springs attract not only tourists but also those who want to be treated or improve their health. To get to the center of the village, you need to turn left from the main road. Here, on the main street of the village, there is a kind of pump room where Brusnytsia mineral water is bottled and sold immediately.
Brusnytsia is home to a balneological hospital created on the basis of a unique deposit of three types of mineral waters. The Brusnitskaya mineral water is similar in chemical composition to the waters of Essentuki No. 4, Arena, Dragovsk, Kvass, etc. Mineral waters of this type have a good therapeutic effect on peptic ulcer disease. However, Brusnitskaya mineral water differs from the above-mentioned waters by the presence of silicic acid, which has high biological activity and general mineralization. It has an inhibitory effect on stomach acid formation.

The regional hospital for rehabilitation treatment (headed by Dmytro Ilyich Boyko), which operates a sanatorium-resort. The Brusnitsa balneological sanatorium has been operating in the village since 1967. It is based on the Brusnytsia mineral water deposit. The sanatorium treats the musculoskeletal system (arthrosis, osteochondrosis, hernia, polyarthritis, rheumatism), gastrointestinal tract (peptic ulcer, gastritis, pancreatitis), diseases of the nervous system, diseases of the female genital organs (especially infertility and inflammation) and diseases of the cardiovascular system. The regional council is constantly looking for ways to develop the sanatorium complex.

A park was founded next to the hospital in the nineteenth century and is now a monument of landscape art called Brusnitsky Park. The park is home to trees of different ages and composition, which grow in individual specimens, small groups and in the form of alleys. The relief of the park is flat, and there is a small pond in the park. Among the exotic trees are Weymouth pine, common spruce, western thuja, small-leaved linden, horse chestnut, and others. The park has sanitary, hygienic, health, and aesthetic value as a balneological factor of the Brusnytsia water resort.

In the eastern part of the village, there is a local architectural landmark - the wooden church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary built in 1887. However, it is unlikely to attract tourists: the walls of the church are completely covered with siding. The church is not quite ordinary for Bukovynian wooden churches: it is single-domed and cross-shaped. Only the two-tiered wooden bell tower looks more or less authentic. A beautiful panorama opens up to the village and the church from the hill over which the road to Nyzhni Stanovtsi passes.

Until 1961, the Brusnytsia library was housed in a picturesque Jewish house in the center of the village. It was a reading room. It had up to 4 thousand books in its collection, which were in great demand among the villagers. Olha Shapoval worked as a librarian. Readers' conferences and oral journals were regularly held. Since 1961, the library has been located in a new cultural center, housed in three rooms: a reading room, a young reader's room, and a book depository. Valentyna Titarenko became the head of the library. Already in 1968, the library's collection included 8,300 books. From 1986 to 2012, Maria Ponych worked as the head of the library. Since 2012, the librarian is Yurii Ponych. The library collection consists of 23,647 books. More than 700 users are served. The library has a computer and an Internet connection. The library has created and operates a hobby club "Children's Theater of the Book "Veselka".

The Brusnytsia Village History Museum was opened on June 26, 1983. The creation of the local history museum was preceded by a hard search and research work, a public council headed by a history teacher, Honored Worker of Culture of the Ukrainian SSR, a native of Brusnytsia, Zakhariy Mykhailiuk. In total, more than 1100 museum items were collected.

The village has the following other institutions: post office, medical facility, banking institution, preschool, educational institution, club, and a rehabilitation hospital of regional significance. The main population is Ukrainians. The villagers are engaged in agriculture, animal husbandry, entrepreneurial activity and work in various institutions. 59350, Chernivtsi region, Kitsman district, Brusnytsia village, 30 Bukovynska str., tel. 03736-5-43-21.
