About

Zbojnícka Hut (the «Robbers' Hut») stands at 1960 m at the head of the Veľká Studená dolina in the High Tatras, beside the Zbojnícke plesá tarns. It is a year-round high-mountain hut with a terrace over the valley and a fireplace for bad weather.

A hunting lodge was built here in 1907 and turned into a tourist shelter three years later; in 1924 it took its name from the nearby tarns, probably named after poachers who once roamed the valley. The building got its present form in a rebuild of 1983–1986, burnt down in June 1998 and reopened in October 2001. It is still supplied by porters, with a record load of over 140 kg.

The blue trail climbs here from Rainer's Hut and continues over Prielom; the yellow trail crosses Priečne sedlo to Téry Hut. These passes fall under the TANAP seasonal closure from 1 November to 31 May. The hut has a shared dormitory for 16 and a kitchen. Mountain rescue (HZS): 18 300.
