Folk Museum of Education of Prykarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk

The Museum of Education of Prykarpattia was established in 1980 at the Vasyl Stefanyk Ivano-Frankivsk State Pedagogical Institute. Hundreds of exhibits on a 200-square-meter exhibition area show the development of national education in the region from the times of Kyivan Rus to the present day. A separate section is devoted to the history of the formation and development of the V. Stefanyk Precarpathian National University from its foundation in 1940 to the largest higher education institution in Ivano-Frankivsk region. Many of the exhibits are original, and some are unique.

The museum has received about 150,000 visitors, conducted nearly 7,000 excursions, and organized nearly 100 thematic exhibitions. The museum provides methodological assistance in creating public and school museums, advises university professors, teachers, students, and pupils on the development of education in the Carpathian region, and conducts extensive research, development, and popularization activities. Teachers and students from Prykarpattia and other regions of Ukraine conduct research at the museum, hold scientific conferences and seminars, and teach university students about historical local history and museum studies.

In 1983, the Museum of Education of Prykarpattia was awarded the title of "national". The museum's exposition consists of three sections: "Education in Prykarpattia from the time of Kyivan Rus until 1939"; "School and Education in Prykarpattia in 1939-2007"; "History of the Formation of the V. Stefanyk Precarpathian National University".
