About

The Skrzyczne Hut stands just below the summit of Skrzyczne in the Silesian Beskids, at 1,250 m, above the ski resort of Szczyrk. It is run by PTTK.

Rudolf Urbanke built the first wooden hut on the summit glade in 1933; it burned down in the mid-1930s and the owner put up a new, larger building. After war damage and repairs by the Upper Silesian branch of the Polish Tatra Society it was formally reopened in June 1950. The chairlift from Szczyrk, completed in 1958, brought many more visitors. A major modernisation in 1998 added a pitched roof with an attic floor and a terrace.

There are 29 beds, three dining rooms and, in summer, a buffet on the viewing terrace. The green trail climbs from Szczyrk and continues over Małe Skrzyczne and Malinowska Skała to Barania Góra; the blue trail runs from Szczyrk Górny to Ostre, and the red one comes from Buczkowice. Mountain rescue: 985 or +48 601 100 300.
