Staffed huts have a kitchen and beds, while unstaffed huts, shelters and bivouac sites offer only a roof or a place for a tent — know which one you are heading for.
Popular huts get busy in season and at weekends — check on their website or by phone that they are open.
In national parks you may sleep out and light fires only in designated places — follow the local rules.
Mountain rescue: 985 (TOPR / GOPR); emergency number 112.
