About
The Roztoka Hut, also called the hut at Stara Roztoka, is a wooden building on a glade in Dolina Białki in the High Tatras, at about 1,030 m, just below the mouth of Dolina Roztoki. Run by PTTK and named after the poet Wincenty Pol, it has 75 beds, a buffet, a dining room and a common room; in autumn red deer can be heard rutting on the glade.
The first hut was built here in 1876, the second in the Polish Tatras after the old one at Morskie Oko. In 1887 a path from Jaszczurówka to it was waymarked, regarded as the first marked trail in the Polish Tatras. The present building dates from 1913, on a drier site. Between the wars it was the main base for Polish climbers heading to the Slovak side.
The green trail links it in 15 minutes with Wodogrzmoty Mickiewicza on the Morskie Oko road and continues up Dolina Roztoki to the Five Polish Ponds. Mountain rescue: 985 or +48 601 100 300.
