About
Kráľova hoľa Hut is a small mountain hut at 1451 m in Predné sedlo, at the southern foot of Kráľova hoľa, the easternmost high peak of the Low Tatras. It stands above the village of Šumiac, on the service road to the TV transmitter on the summit.
The wooden building originally housed a snow groomer that kept the mountain road to the transmitter clear. For years it lay unused and fell into decay, until in 2015 two enthusiasts set about restoring it. The renovated hut opened to the public in June 2018.
The hut is open all year and offers refreshments and simple accommodation for 6–8 hikers; power comes from solar panels, and there is running water, a shower and a toilet. The blue trail from Šumiac crosses the saddle, and the summit road is good for walking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing. Mountain rescue (HZS): 18 300.
