About
The Jaworzec hut stands in the Wetlina valley, on the site of the former village of Jaworzec, depopulated after the war, in the Cisna municipality of the Bieszczady. It is a quiet spot, away from the main Bieszczady loop road, with no bus connection and a remarkably starry night sky.
It was built in 1974–1976 as the first bacówka in the Bieszczady, following the concept of small PTTK hiker huts devised by Edward Moskała. Very popular at first, it declined from the 1990s as plenty of new accommodation appeared in the region. Since 2017 the hosts and PTTK have been renovating it and restoring its character.
It has rooms for one to nine people, washrooms and a buffet, and the kitchen is known for fuczki, Bieszczady potato pancakes. The hut is not on the grid: a generator runs after dark. The black trail from Dołżyca passes by on its way to Przełęcz Mieczysława Orłowicza below Połonina Wetlińska. Mountain rescue: 985 or +48 601 100 300.
