About

The Kazimierz Sosnowski Hut stands in the Polica range of the Żywiec Beskids, on the Sidzińskie Pasionki glade south-west of Kucałowa Przełęcz, at 1,152 m. Despite its name, it does not actually lie on Hala Krupowa.

The first hut, called «Pod Policą», opened on 16 December 1935 on the initiative of Sidzina municipality and branches of the Polish Tatra Society, with Professor Kazimierz Sosnowski overseeing construction. German troops burned it in October 1944; the PTTK rebuild was formally opened on 9 October 1955. A plaque recalls that in September 1978 Cardinal Karol Wojtyła set out from here on his last mountain walk before the conclave.

The hut is open all year and has 38 beds, a buffet, a dining room and a GOPR rescue station. The red Main Beskid Trail passes the door, as do the green trail between Zawoja and Sidzina, the black one from Sidzina, the yellow from Juszczyn and the blue from Skawica. Mountain rescue: 985 or +48 601 100 300.
