About
Chata na Grúni is a mountain hut in the Malá Fatra and the highest one in the Vrátna valley. It stands at 973 m on a broad, gentle shoulder below the summit of Grúň, on a side spur running down from Poludňový grúň to the Vrátna valley, within the municipality of Terchová. Several trails meet here, and the rocky Veľký Rozsutec can be seen from the meadow.
It makes an easy outing with children: 30–45 minutes' gentle climb from Chata Vrátna, or about an hour from Štefanová. In winter a chairlift from Starý Dvor runs almost to the hut, and two ski tows of the small Grúň ski area operate right beside it.
The hut is open all year, with double, four- and six-bed rooms and a restaurant; in summer there is a playground and a fire pit. From the hut a trail continues up to Poludňový grúň and the main Malá Fatra ridge. Mountain rescue (HZS): 18 300.
