Frequently asked questions

How do I book a place to stay in the Carpathians?

Choose your dates and the number of guests in the search form above the list. Places connected to online booking then show their free rooms and the price for exactly your dates, and you can send a request from the listing page. For the others, call the owner or the reception: the phone number is on every listing.

Can I book without prepayment?

Yes, for some of them. Once you pick dates, the filters get a “Booking conditions” section with a “No prepayment” option that keeps only the places where nothing has to be paid in advance. If you book directly with the owner, agree on the deposit and the cancellation terms.

Can I bring a dog or a cat?

206 places to stay accept guests with pets — tick “Pets are allowed” in the filters. Agree on the size of the animal, any extra charge and the house rules with the owner in advance.

When is accommodation in the Carpathians cheapest?

Usually in the off-season — April–May and November, between the ski season and the summer holidays. Prices peak over New Year and Christmas, on February weekends at the ski resorts and in August; book those dates early.

Where should I stay to be close to the ski lifts?

250 places to stay are marked “Near the ski lifts” — tick it in the filters. Lifts, ski-pass prices and slope conditions of each resort are on the Carpathian ski resorts page.

Where to stay in the Carpathians: how to choose and book

The catalogue lists hotels, cottages, private guest houses, hostels, campsites, glamping sites, sanatoriums, apartments and A-frame cabins in the villages and resorts of the Ukrainian Carpathians. Every listing has photos, amenities, a price per night, a map and the phone number of the owner or the reception.

Hotels

From mini-hotels with a few rooms in a village to resort complexes next to the ski lifts. Look for spa hotels with a pool, family hotels with a playroom, or budget options if you will spend most of the day in the mountains. Whether breakfast is included is shown in the amenities.

Cottages and A-frames

A whole house for friends or a family, often with a sauna, a Hutsul hot vat, a fireplace and a terrace with a view. A-frames are triangular cabins with panoramic windows for two to four guests. Cottages usually stand on the edge of a village: quiet at night, but the shop may be far away without a car.

Private guest houses

Rooms or small houses at the hosts’ place are the most affordable way to live in a Carpathian village. Hosts often cook home meals and suggest routes. Before booking, ask whether the kitchen and bathroom are shared and whether you can bring a dog.

Hostels, campsites and glamping

Hostels with beds in shared rooms and a kitchen suit budget trips and a night before a hike. Campsites take tents and campervans; glamping sites offer domes and cabins in the forest with beds and electricity.

Sanatoriums and wellness

Sanatoriums in Truskavets, Morshyn, Skhidnytsia and Zakarpattia offer mineral waters and treatment programmes, and Zakarpattia also has thermal pools. More in the Wellness section.
