Thermal Park Vrbov
Thermal Park Vrbov is one of the best-known thermal baths in the Spiš region, on the southern edge of the village of Vrbov, about 6 km (as the crow flies) from Kežmarok and some 10 km from Poprad. Unlike the big water parks, the main attraction here is the water itself: hot and strongly mineralised, and pleasant to sit in outdoors even in winter when snow lies all around.
Thermal water was discovered in Vrbov in 1981 and the baths grew up around it soon afterwards. Today, according to the operator, the water is pumped from two boreholes 1,742 m and 2,502 m deep and reaches the surface at 56 °C and 59 °C. It is a calcium-magnesium hydrogen-carbonate-sulphate water with total mineralisation of 3.7–4.1 g/l: around 487–505 mg/l of calcium, 147–153 mg/l of magnesium, over 2.1 g/l of hydrogen carbonates and a noticeable amount of iron.
What to see and do
- Nine pools, three of them for children; water temperatures range from 26 to 38 °C.
- The sitting pool and the butterfly-shaped Motýľ pool (36–38 °C) with thermal water are open all year — they are the reason people come here in winter.
- A flow-through pool with massage jets (31–33 °C, clear water) — good for loosening muscles after a hike.
- A 35 m swimming pool (26–28 °C) for those who want to swim, not just soak.
- In summer a recreational pool, children’s pools and a slide (28–32 °C) open; in July and August 2026 there were entertainment programmes for children and adults on Fridays and Saturdays.
- On site you will find Thai massage, a bar and a restaurant, plus bungalows for anyone who wants to stay a few days.
Practical information
Getting there. A car is the easiest option: a local road leads to Vrbov from Poprad or Kežmarok, and the baths are on the southern edge of the village (address: Vrbov 299). It is an easy stop after a day in the High Tatras or on the way back from Kežmarok.
Opening hours (as of October 2026): winter season from 14 September 2026 — daily 10:00–21:00, pools must be left by 20:30; summer (26 June to 14 September 2026) — daily 9:00–22:00. The baths are open 364 days a year, closed only on 24 December. In winter four pools operate; some close for scheduled cleaning, so check the pool-status page on the website before you go.
Tickets (prices from 14 September 2026): 2.5 hours — €12.50 for adults and €10.50 for children, seniors and disabled visitors; 4 hours — €13.50 / €11.50; full day — €17 / €14.50; evening bathing (17:00–20:30) — €13 / €11. Children under 3 enter free; the child ticket applies from 3 to 15. Thirty minutes for changing are added to each ticket, and each started hour over the limit costs €2 extra. Families get discounts (for example, 2 adults + 2 children — one child at half price).
Good to know. Your ticket is a chip wristband: you can use it to pay on site, and any unspent credit is refunded at the cash desk when you leave. The operator provides the results of its monthly water-quality tests on request.
