Open the big map ›Explore the Carpathians in 3D
These are the Ukrainian Carpathians built from Karpaty.Rocks data. Every glowing dot is a real coordinate from our database: a place marked on the map, a spring, a hut, a village or an exact position on a trail’s GPS track. There is no base map — the relief is drawn by the tracks themselves, recorded with altitude.
How to explore
- Rotate and zoomDrag with the mouse or a finger, use the wheel or pinch with two fingers. Double-click to fly closer.
- Switch layersStays, peaks, springs, huts, waterfalls, craft — each on its own. Colour by type, by altitude or as a soft glow.
- Click a dotA card shows the name, altitude and photo, and «Open» takes you to the place’s page. Click a track to light up the whole trail with its profile.
- Search and flyType «Hoverla» or «Yaremche» and the results light up. Fly over Chornohora, Svydovets, the Gorgany and Borzhava.
Sharing a view is easy: the «Share» button keeps the camera, the layers and the colour in the link — a friend opens exactly what you see.
Where the coordinates come from
Trails are full GPS tracks with the altitude of every coordinate; places are website pages marked on the map; springs and huts come from our checked database together with OpenStreetMap data. How all of this is stored and searched is explained separately: how Karpaty.Rocks search works.
Karpaty.Rocks in numbers
The server counts these numbers itself — straight from the database and the search index — and refreshes them several times a day.
