Gaptuvalnya embroidered-fashion store, Ivano-Frankivsk

Gaptuvalnya is a Ukrainian brand of embroidered clothing whose flagship store is in the Bastion gallery in Ivano-Frankivsk. The name comes from haptuvannia — the old art of embroidering with gold thread — and also hints that everyone “embroiders” their own path. Founder Natalia Herheliuk says that in her family ethnic clothes were a celebration, worn rarely and only on important occasions; that sense of the exceptional is what she brought into contemporary pieces you can wear every day. The brand has shown collections at Ukrainian Fashion Week and Odesa Fashion Week, and the store in the bastion lets you see and try them on in person.
