Antalovtsi (formerly Antonivka, Hungarian: Antalóc) is a village in the Uzhhorod district of the Zakarpattia region on the Viola river. The village is located 30 km from Uzhhorod, under the picturesque Makovytsia mountain. Three rivers near the village converge into a river with the maiden name Viola. Everything in the village is connected to the forest, even the monument to a logger. For five hundred years, the forest has been feeding, sheltering, and inspiring Antalovians. Foresters and carvers, they all know how to work well and love their land.
Antalovtsi is subordinated to the village council of Khudlevo. Three clades of bronze products have been found on the territory of Antalovtsi village: two from the Late Bronze Age (the end of the II millennium BC) and one from the Early Iron Age. In Soviet times, the name of the settlement was changed to Antonivka, but nowadays the village has been given its original name, Antalovtsi. In the 20s of the XIX century, an enterprise was opened in the village, which operated until the 80s of the XIX century.
In the vicinity of Antalovtsi there are natural attractions: the Antalovetska Polyana tract and the Antalovetski rocks. The house museum of Antalovtsi village presents ancient household items, folk clothes and embroidery that will help visitors discover the history of this amazing land.
The first mention of the village is found in the charter of King Ferdinand I from 1548, which refers to the hereditary affairs of the Drugetts. Antalovtsi belonged to the estates of the Druget family of Nevytske. In written sources the village is known as "Antolocz". It is believed that the village was founded at the end of the XV century by a scholtheis named Antal. In 1631, there were 7 serf households and the household of the sholtayis in Antalovtsi. In 1715 there were 13 peasant and 2 jelly-making households in the village. In the XVII century, several Slovak families moved to the village due to logging. In the XVIII century there was already a Greek Catholic church in the village, which belonged to the Russian (Ukrainian) population.
There are bars and a disco, a spa center in the village. There is a mini-zoo. Tourists are offered a variety of excursions. Tourists can go skiing and sledding, as well as visit the ski resort of the sports and tourist complex "Sinyak", which is located 45 km from the village of Antalovtsi.
In summer, guests of the region can diversify their vacation with fishing trips (trout, carp), walks in the surroundings, during which they can not only enjoy the silence and healing clean forest air, but also pick up many mushrooms and berries. You can arrange accommodation in the private sector or book a hotel room.
The village of Antalovtsi in Uzhhorod district hosts the regional festival of Slovak folk art "Slovenska veselica - 2016". The festival is held annually in places where ethnic Slovaks live compactly. Its goal is to preserve and support the traditional folk art of the Slovaks of Ukraine. Traditionally, the festival hosts an exhibition and sale of works by masters of folk arts and crafts and fine arts, children's attractions, and delicious national dishes.
Getting there: The most convenient way to get there is by train from Kyiv to Uzhhorod to the Mukacheve railway station. Then by bus or minibus.
