Novyi Vovchynets is a small border village in the Hlyboka district with fertile land, clean air, and landscapes that delight the eye and warm the soul. The village is located near the border with Romania, near the Seret River. The village has 101 houses and 306 inhabitants. The first settlements appeared on the territory of the present village after 1840. The first houses were built by 6 families and they began to live, as they said, "in the field". To avoid confusion, the new settlement was called Novyi Vovchynets, and Vovchynets became Staryi Vovchynets.

All civil records, including marriages, deaths, and births, were made in Staryi Vovchynets. People were also buried in the cemetery of Staryi Vovchynets. This was not entirely convenient, as it was necessary to cover a distance of more than 6 km. Then a resident of the village of Kolotylo, Mariia Havrylivna, donated 40 acres of land for a cemetery, and people began to be buried in the local cemetery. In 1937, a bell tower was built. It was built by local craftsmen, and the community of Novyi Vovchynets and the church of Staryi Vovchynets helped with materials and money. The bell was ordered in Chernivtsi and cost 600 lei. Six village elders donated 100 lei each to purchase it. The bell was transported from Chernivtsi in a wagon. The bell was lifted by hand and consecrated on Ascension (or Savior, as we say). Since then, people have come to the graves of their deceased relatives on this holiday.

Somewhere in the forties of the last century, the village was assigned to the Cherepkovets village council. For many years, people dreamed of their own church. In 1939, the village of Mushyntsi (now Romania) donated a church to Novyi Vovchynets, but they did not have time to build it because of the establishment of the state border. It was only in 1996 that a plot of land was allocated for the construction of the church, project documentation was made, and the place for the church was consecrated. The initiator and organizer of the work was the head of the religious community, Ivan Karpiuk. The first brick was laid on July 3, 1998. The construction was funded by the community, donations from individuals, and sponsorship from various businesses. On July 21, 2007, with the participation of Metropolitan Danylo of Bukovyna, holy fathers, church brotherhood and sisterhood, and lay people from neighboring villages, the Church of the Prophet Elijah was consecrated in the village of Novyi Vovchynets.

After the construction of a new bell tower in the village of Cherepkivtsi, the old wooden bell tower was donated to the village of Novyi Vovchynets. New bells were purchased to replace the old ones, and now the melodious festive chimes are heard over the village. The village has a shop, a library, and a bus service to the district and regional centers with a convenient schedule.
