Mount Makovytsia is a pearl of the western lands, with amazing landscapes, fabulous views, nature, air, and atmosphere, located in the central part of the eponymous Makovytsia range, part of the large Volcanic Range, on the border of Perechyn and Uzhhorod districts of Zakarpattia region. Makovytsia is not only a beautiful mountain, but also one of the highest on the Volcanic Range, second only to Mount Buzhora in terms of its gigantic size. Makovytsia is almost 978 meters high.

The northern and northwestern slopes of Makovytsia are distinguished by their special landscape - they are steeper, and therefore one should be especially vigilant and careful in these areas, while the southern slopes of the mountain are gentle. Mount Makovytsia is partially covered with forests. Among the predominant trees here are hornbeam, oak, and beech, although sometimes wild apple, pear, and cherry trees can be found. The mountain is a continuous grassy canvas, with luxurious and fragrant herbs beckoning you to rest. Many of the plants that grow on Makyvitsa are also listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, so you should not pick or pluck all the herbs to avoid harming this special mountain ecosystem.

To the northwest of Makovytsia is the Lipova Skela ridge, to the northeast is Mount Zakruzhy (688 m), and to the south is the valley of the Stara River (a tributary of the Latorytsia). Nearest settlements: villages of Turyi Remety, Rakovo, Antalovtsi, cities of Irshava, Synevyr, Kolochava.

You can stay for the night in the nearest villages at someone's place, and travelers are welcomed here-sometimes for a fee, and sometimes for free. There are rooms for rent here. If you plan to spend the night in a tent, you should also take such necessary things as a raincoat, flashlight, rope, flashlight batteries, matches and a camera.

The most convenient way to get to Makovytsia is from Uzhhorod. First, we go by train or bus to Uzhhorod, and then to one of the settlements adjacent to the mountain. It is best to start the hike from the village of Turyi Remety.
