Halynka Verkhovynka's Museum-Estate (Vyshyvanka Museum), Iltsi

In the very center of the Carpathians, where the town of Verkhovyna stretches over the banks of the Cheremosh, lies a beautifully picturesque mountainous area. In the midst of this wonderful nature lives a majestic woman with a common Ukrainian name, Halyna. An accountant by training, with a multifaceted soul, a purposeful but lyrical woman, she created a museum-estate in the village of Ilkivtsi, near Verkhovyna, where she lives with her family.

Halyna Verkhovynka's museum-estate (embroidery museum) in Verkhovyna. It is an extremely soulful museum founded by the poet Halyna Yatseniuk. During an interactive tour, she tells about Hutsul traditions, especially the wedding ceremony, the ornamentalism of Hutsul embroidery, and dresses tourists in Hutsul costumes. The guests are especially touched by the poems recited by the hostess with a wonderful creative pseudonym Halyna Verkhovynka.

The hostess has been collecting exhibits for the museum for five years. And now its collection includes more than 500 items. The basis of the exposition consists of embroidered items, authentic things, tools and household items from all over the Hutsul region. Among the museum's artifacts are looms, woven Hutsul blankets, carpets, many towels, more than 40 embroideries, hats, belts, shoes, various household utensils, and much more. Unique antiques are of particular interest to visitors. For example, a bartka (hatchet) that is at least 140 years old, a perekretka (women's headdress) that is 120 years old, a cup that is over 200 years old, and other items. Halyna welcomes visitors with old Hutsul songs and tells them about her exhibits, rituals and traditions of the people of the mountainous region. She also conducts master classes in spinning, weaving, embroidery, knitting and shawl making.

Visit the Vyshyvanka museum and get acquainted with authentic Hutsul things and household items, listen to the Hutsul dialect and an interesting historical story about Hutsul embroidery told by the friendly and sincere, loving museum owner.

The museum will also provide you with Hutsul embroidered shirts, which will make you feel like real Hutsuls. And don't forget to take a picture!

In Halyna Verkhovynka's museum "Vyshyvanka", exquisite, original, antique items are selected with inspiration and love, as if they share the warmth and secrets of the life of the people of this mountainous region. They continue to live, teach, tell and reproduce, because real life is endless. Halyna Ivanovna's hard work has resulted in the creation of this manor-museum, and people are now able to experience real Hutsul life and Hutsul embroidery.

The museum has already been visited by guests from Germany, Australia, America, and Canada.

Halyna-Verkhovynka's Vyshyvanka Museum attracts people not only with the exhibits they can see here, but also with the interesting excursions she conducts. Indeed, Ms. Halyna tells guests useful stories. In addition, you can see a real theatrical performance performed by Halyna Yatseniuk. During the tours, she sings, recites her poems, and most interestingly, she allows you to try on old embroidered shirts, stocks, and hats. For those who wish, the museum owner also holds a master class, teaching how to tie headscarves the way Hutsuls used to do it.

Halyna Yatseniuk teaches guests how to tie a peremetka, a headdress worn by Hutsuls after marriage. The length of a peremetka can reach from 2.5 to 6 meters. In fact, it is quite a difficult task and very few people in Ukraine know how to tie this headdress. Halyna spent four years looking for someone who could teach her how to tie a peremetka.
