Horse riding in the Carpathians
The Hutsul horse is a hardy mountain breed that carried loads along Carpathian paths for centuries. Today many villages have stables where you can ride even without experience: a short ride through the forest or to a viewpoint, rides for children, or a multi-day horse trek across the pastures with overnight stays.
Riding is a calm way to see mountains that feel too far on foot. Instructors match a horse to each rider and lead groups along familiar routes.
Tip: wear long trousers and closed shoes with a low heel, check weight and age limits, and book in advance, especially on weekends and in high season.
