Roman Shukhevych Museum of Village History and Liberation Struggle
A small exposition in the People's House tells about the history of the village, the Shukhevych family, the activities of the Prosvita, and the hard times of deportation and repression. The museum's current exhibitions include: the life and work of prominent people; everyday life and ethnography; and the liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people.
The museum was opened and consecrated on October 14, 2004, the day of the 62nd anniversary of the UPA. The expositions are located in two rooms of the People's House, next to the village council, and in one of the halls of the library in the same building.
In chronological order, there are stands that reflect the periods of the village's development, from the first written mention to the present day. A separate section is devoted to the natives of Tyshkivtsi village, members of the OUN-UPA; those who contributed to the creation of this museum with their personal work. Copies of the coats of arms of the village's noble families, exhibits of handicrafts, clothing, weapons - all this complements the history of their origin and customs.
One of the museum's exhibits is the Shukhevych family line, which dates back to Father Osyp, who took over the parish in the village in 1841. The most prominent member of the family was Osyp's son Volodymyr, a professor, teacher, and world-renowned ethnographer. The museum focuses most attention on the figure of Roman Shukhevych (Taras Chuprynka, Tour, Roman Lozovsky, Monk, Tucha, Stepan, Shchuka, Bell), the commander-in-chief of the UPA, whose activities are inseparable from his personality.
Local teachers, historians, and local historians made great efforts to decorate the museum. A Public Council was created, headed by H. P. Kuchirka.
Today the museum has the following exhibitions:
- The first mentions of the village, life and way of life of the peasants.
- The history of the glorious Shukhevych family (Osyp Shukhevych, Volodymyr Shukhevych, Roman Shukhevych).
