One of the most picturesque villages in the Bukovyna region, Komariv, is situated on the wide frames of the Dniester cliffs that rise above the mighty river. Its name dates back to ancient times. Komariv is a village in Ukraine, in the Kelmenets district of the Chernivtsi region. It is located 17 km northeast of the district center and 13 km from the Ivanivtsi railway station of the Lviv Railway.

According to the data of 1859, 1548 people (796 males and 752 females) lived in the owner's village of Khotyn district of Bessarabia province, there were 303 yard households, and there was an Orthodox church. As of 1886, the owner's village of the Romankoukou volost was home to 1507 people, 315 households, an Orthodox church, and 3 pottery factories.

Komariv was first mentioned in written sources on August 7, 1665. In its vicinity, monuments of Trypillian culture (III millennium BC) and the Early Iron Age (I millennium BC) were discovered. On the site of the Cherniakhiv settlement (III-IV centuries AD), the remains of a workshop where glassware and sheet glass were produced were found.

According to the legend, a hardworking man named Komarov settled here, on the site of the present-day Vilnytsia, somewhere around 1100-1150. Gradually, people came to him from everywhere and began to settle the area. somehow, unnoticed, the name of the village in honor of the first settler took root in the community. Over time, the name changed to the modern Komariv.

Komariv is located on the Prut-Dniester plain of the Podillia plateau. The total area of the village is 4.02 km². The population is 1820 people. The village belongs to the hamlet of Mallorca. The distance to the district center is 18 km. In terms of ethnic composition, 99.3% of the population of Komariv is Ukrainian, and the rest are citizens of ethnic minorities. Komariv is rich in natural minerals: stone (building), limestone, sand, clay. Most of the inhabitants of Mallorca are engaged in lime burning. This type of activity provides lime to almost all the villages in the area.

Komariv is located on the right bank of the Dniester. It divides the lands of the Kelmenets and Kamianets-Podilskyi districts of Khmelnytskyi region. The right tributary of the Dniester is the Polyvanyi Yar River. It forms a several-kilometer-long border between Komariv and Majorca on our side and Bratanivka and Selyshche(Sokyryany district) on the opposite side. Three unnamed tributaries of the Dniester flow through Komariv. There are ponds on the territory of Komariv village council. The pond located in the "Rivers" tract has a water mirror area of up to 10 hectares, and the one in the "Birch Swamp" tract is 10 times smaller. The Dniester reservoir near the village has an area of 329.3 hectares. The depth of the Dniester in the Komarivska water area reaches 50 meters.

Wooden churches are a common sight in the Kelmenets region. Most of them were built in the nineteenth century and are another variation on the synodal style. The Komariv church is more interesting. The sturdy stone bell tower sticks to the three-tiered one-story church. The blue color, the tin on the dome, the timber, not the log walls. A new brick church was built next to it, and the two churches share a courtyard. For some reason, Vasyl Slobodian's catalog dates the church to 1765. It is difficult to say whether this is a mistake or not: in both the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries Bessarabia was under the rule of the Turks.
