Khomyakivka

Khomyakivka is a small village in the Tysmenytsia district of Ivano-Frankivsk region, founded in the late 15th century on the Strymba river. The population is about 950 people. It is the center of the village council.

It was mentioned on January 1, 1457 (Chomikowcze) in the books of the Galician court. In the tax register of 1515, 2 fields (about 50 hectares) of cultivated land are documented in the village. On April 9, 2017, a reconstructed monument to the fighters for the freedom of Ukraine was unveiled.

The church in Khomyakivka was first mentioned in documents of the second half of the XVII century. In the XVIII century, there was a wooden church in the village, which is marked on the map of 1783 on the site of the present one. A new wooden church was built in 1864. It was closed after World War II by the Soviet authorities in the early 1960s. In 2014, the 150th anniversary of the church was celebrated. Today it is used by the UGCC community. It belongs to the architectural monuments of local importance.

The church stands in the southern part of the village, to the north of the cemetery. It is a small building of a typical Tysmenytsia layout, completed with a single roof. The vestry is attached to the north to the altar, and the chancel to the west to the narthex. The side entrance is from the south to the nave. Today, the walls under the chancel and the annexes are covered with horizontal raised beams, the walls above the chancel are covered with plastic, and the windows have been replaced with metal-plastic ones. The new stone two-tiered bell tower, located to the northwest of the church, was consecrated in 2014.

A large complex of ponds. Fishing is paid. The grandfather opens the ponds at 6 a.m., and you have to queue up in advance, as he lets one car through at a time.
