Tysobyken

The name of the village comes from the Old Hungarian name Byken. The meaning of this word is not yet fully understood. The Ukrainian name of Bobove is a translation of the Hungarian name Tiszobiken.

In the 1800s, half of the villagers died of a cholera epidemic.

At the beginning of the XX century, a significant number of villagers left to work in the USA, France, and Belgium.

According to the 1921 census, there were 140 houses in the village with 845 inhabitants, including 436 men and 439 women. By nationality, there were 9 Slovaks, 23 Rusyns, 704 Hungarians, and 90 Jews.

During the Czechoslovak period the village was called Beken. In 1923, when the border issues between Czechoslovakia, which at that time included Ukrainian Zakarpattia, and Hungary were settled, part of the lands of the Hungarian village of Mohoszliget was transferred to Bekeny.

The settlements of Bekeny were renamed Bobove and Forkoshfolvo to Vovchanske by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR of June 25, 1946.

Until 1971, Bobove was the center of the village council, which also included the village of Vovchanske (Forkoshfolvo). The two villages practically merged into one. The official merger of the village of Vovchanske with the village of Bobove was carried out by the decision of the village executive committee No. 155 of April 15, 1967.

By the decision of the regional executive committee of February 16, 1971, the Bobove village council was liquidated. Bobove village was subordinated to Petrivka village council. The name Tysobyken was returned in 1995.

In 1998, as a result of the flood, the village of Tysobyken suffered the most among others. 344 houses were destroyed.
