Yavoriv is an ancient border town in the Lviv region, located 50 kilometers west of Lviv. The first written mention of Yavoriv dates back to June 24, 1376. The name comes from the sycamores, which are an attribute and pride of the town. In 1569, Yavoriv received the Magdeburg Law. Yavoriv is located on the way from Lviv to the cities of Poland. Most likely, the name of the city originated from the sycamores, which are abundant on the banks of the Shkla River. Yavoriv could also have gotten its name from Prince Yavor, who is mentioned in chronicles.

There are many attractive historical features for tourists in Yavoriv.

A special highlight of Yavoriv is the dungeons that date back to the royal past. During the reign of Jan Sobieski, an underground passage ran from the royal residence to the Small Suburb of Jaworów. The dungeon still exists today, and its entrance is located in the modern courtyard of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, up to 2 meters high, built of stone and brick, with numerous niches on both sides.

It is worth noting that in the nineteenth century decorative arts were widely developed in Yavoriv: wood carving and painting, ceramics, weaving, and embroidery, but no type of decorative art was as widespread as wood painting. The Yavoriv folk artists decorated their products in a style unique to them, the so-called verbivka, using green, red, blue, and yellow colors.

Other historical and architectural monuments worth seeing include the unique Yavoriv Town Hall, as the town hall tower is octagonal in plan (which is rare), the town council building (XIX century), the People's House (1908), and the Ridna Shkola gymnasium.

The Polish-Ukrainian borderland is an incredible land with picturesque landscapes and ancient architecture. In June 2013, the Budomierz-Hruszów border crossing was opened, which expanded the opportunities to visit Yavoriv for tourists and especially for investors who want to develop investments near the border. For this purpose, Yavoriv has a specially designated area with the possibility of quick and cheap laying of all power grids, high-pressure energy and water supply, and, most importantly, a railway line and road to the two international crossing points "Krakovets-Korchova" and "Budomierz-Hrushev" - it is about 20 km to each.

The main priority of Yavoriv's economic policy is the development of industry on the basis of abandoned warehouses on the outskirts of the city near the railway station, as well as increasing tourist attractiveness through the restoration of ancient architectural masterpieces and dungeons.
